Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the gravel trap, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
